HOW TO MAKE QUICK AND EASY COLOUR CORRECTIONS USING GIMP

  1. The GIMP application has to be started first.

  2. After GIMP has been loaded, you have to go to the menu to locate the File and click it to open. A photograph must be selected for the correction of color. For the purpose of demonstration, a portrait must have been taken outside, and you will benefit by working with this just as it is.

  3. To work with the original copy of the photograph, the layer will be duplicated by locating the layer from the menu bar. Two thumbnails of the photograph can be seen in the right side of the screen in the floating box.

  4. Now, you have to locate the lasso tool from the tool box. At the top, an icon can be seen which should look like a rope. As the changing in complexion is unwanted, an exclusion area must be created around the subject's face.

  5. With the help of the located lasso tool, you have to drag the mouse around the targeted area, as it is demanded for exclusion from the adjustment. You have to go as near as possible to the edges. To finish the full path, the starting point must be completed. When you have the ‘dancing ants’ selection across the selected area, you will know that you are going in the right direction.

  6. The targeted area, which was drawn earlier, may be changed if the decision has been made to make any adjustment. You have to reverse the selection if need of adjustment is desired. It can be done by selecting the option SELECT from the menu bar, and then the reversal could be done. It has not been noted that the targeted area has been swapped with the unmarked area. Now, without altering the subject's face, changes can be made.

  7. You have to draw the curves by opening the curves tool, after selecting the color from the menu bar.

  8. You have to locate two or three points on the graph in order to move them up and down.

  9. You are now able to deselect your earlier selection by locating SELECT from the menu bar and then NONE.

  10. Now you have to "flatten" your layers, as the final selection is being decided.

  11. Then, you have to save the file by selecting FILE and then SAVE AS, choosing any term that you want to save the image as.

Generally, a higher quality file should be larger. After making a choice, you then have to select the SAVE option. If you were a user of ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, then you should know the process very well.
